Animated type specimens for an Indian type foundry
We partnered with November to explore how their typefaces could be showcased in motion while staying true to each font’s inspiration, message, and personality. Every typeface needed something different from motion. Some animations highlighted structure, some focused on the idea behind the font, and others amplified its tone. The result was a series of 2D and 3D animated specimens that brought out the individual character of each typeface. These became the hero visuals on November’s website, appearing on each font page as the first thing visitors see before trying the typeface.

The Challenge
Our task was to translate the visual personality of each font into motion. Every typeface had its own character, and our goal was to reflect that uniqueness through animation.
The Approach
We explored both 2D and 3D approaches, animating selected words, phrases, and the font names themselves to create expressive, motion-driven type specimens. Just as every font carries a distinct visual tone, we ensured that same tone came through in its animation.
For every font, we explored multiple ideas until the motion felt right, sometimes minimal, sometimes bold, sometimes structural, sometimes playful. Each exploration helped us understand what the font wanted to say and how it wanted to move.
