Held every four years, the ICC Champions Trophy brings together the best teams in international cricket. We were invited by Stray Motion to collaborate a high-energy opener that played both in-stadium and on the live streams during the matches. The video featured contains a collection of our internal design and motion experiments. View the final piece of Stray Motion’s page.

The brief was as ambitious as the stage it would live on: bring typography, 3D, and live action together in a way that feels seamless, powerful, and cohesive.
We began with the event’s core identity. Logo, color palette, and typeface, and started crafting design frames without locking ourselves into a storyboard. The piece itself was intentionally non-linear, built around emotionally charged words like glory, pride, action, and victory. These words became the invisible spine of the narrative. The early design frames acted as our sketchbook, a place to explore tone, texture, rhythm, and energy before committing to motion. They helped us understand what the piece wanted to feel like long before we knew exactly how it would move.

Typography was at the heart of this piece. We explored a wide range of motion behaviors to see how type could drive both mood and momentum. One of our key experiments was 3D-mapped typography, creating type that moved in a 3D space while maintaining a flat, graphic look. This contrast added a strong visual hook and became a defining pillar of the piece. Along with 3D mapped typography, we also explored multiple animations for the type for it to feel energetic & dynamic.
We used a mix of techniques to blend the worlds of CG, 2D type animation, and live action. From projecting type onto live footage, to syncing motion with action, every element had to feel like it belonged in the same universe. Early tests & explorations can be seen below.
